Beach salt detailing in Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast
On the coast there is really only one enemy, and it is not the sand you can see. We flush salt out of the chassis and lock it out, at your place, from Cooee Bay through to Kinka Beach.
What salt does to a rig, in three stages
Nothing about this is dramatic on any given weekend. That is exactly why it gets away from people.
Salt goes where water cannot reach it
Driving the sand puts salt spray into the chassis rails, the suspension mounts, the inside of the tray and behind the bash plates. A rinse in the driveway wets the outside of all of it and washes very little of it out.
It stops being visible
The paint looks fine. The salt still sitting in the frame is now under a layer of road grime, and every humid morning on the coast puts moisture back into it. This is the stage where owners assume the problem went away.
It shows up as surface rust
Around tray mounts, seam welds and anywhere the factory coating was thin or chipped by a stone. At that point it is a repair, not a detail, and it comes straight off the resale price.
Flush it out, then keep it out
Every package starts with a high pressure chassis rinse and a spray on hydrophobic barrier, which is the part that actually gets salt water moving back out of the rails instead of sitting in them.

Do it in the week you drove the beach and it is a wash. Leave it until it shows, and it is panel work.
